Ebay 10 years on sellers - buyers beware

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

Quoted from an email: At one point, sellers boycotting eBay due to an increase in Final Value fees claimed a drop to 12 million listings would represent a victory. One third party count at DealsCart found a low of some 13.5 million listings on one day last week. Ebay shrugged off the boycott without comment, other than to claim the action had no effect. We don’t see that as being completely true, since thanks to the Internet this boycott received significant attention leading into its run.

In our humble opinion Ebay seems to have forgotten without sellers there are no buyers and without either they have no business. OR do they?

We know quite a number of decent people that have been banned from Ebay the people wasted the time sending in the forms Ebay sent them only to hear nothing back.

Thinking of ebay the way it was last century in 1998 when we first signed up to sell we couldn’t because we were in Australia. The endless draconian rules and regulations still apply 10 years on.

We spent $5000 to setup our Ebay shop properly & get it marketed only to be kicked in the teeth by Ebay. Then on the other hand Ebay seems to ignore and give second chances to those who are dodgy. Which we have been told by the people themselves.

We ourselves being on the up and up or the level. YOU WILL BE PLEASED TO KNOW nowadays do not associate with these people. So you are now warned as to the waste of money Ebay causes.

We support the sellers on principal however would it not be good the idea they have if they were to give a bit more thought to the idea and say give discounts for multiple items listed with the one campaign on Ebay.

Jon Leger’s blog links case study update

I have just been over to www.jonathanleger.com/links-from-blog-comments-update and posted a comment.

I too have been following this study closely as I wish to try to get more links. I think the work you are now doing Jon is great so far not many problems.

I have found that I get around 25-50% of my comments to stick on blogs even like 5 years later pretty amazing since I thought they would have lost value since archiving.

Just goes to show you that those people who deny your comments obviously are ignorant with relation to learning anything. As I am a smart cookie I sit and read all the comments and I LEARN NEW TIPS AND TRICKS.

Thanks again Jon for all your help over the years.

I found it works great posting comments as long as they are relevant. I have a couple of blogs you can add to your list Jon and anyone wishing to comment feel free. In my experience if you link back to the same blog but a different post from your blog or site it works better than to the actual post you commented on.

AND it does not matter the page rank you comment on you still get link value PLUS say you don’t comment today and the owner decides to stop allowing comments, where do you get your link in 1-3 years when the page has a high rank???

I added or kept only these below reciprocal links in the last 3 years to my page when it had 0 rank it jumped to 1.

Ogloszenia motoryzacyjne
Dzialki
Baza ogloszen
Praca w Polsce
Noclegi

I added more links to other sites of mine dropped to 0 a month later i found by taking off the extra links I am back up but this time to 2. What I did was I put all the extra links on a new page & it went from 0 to 2 in about 3 months. My first links page has 3 links on it  & the secondary link page has 150 on it, including the adsense links and a range of sites for Search engine Submits.

Original link page

Cheney Talks why you’re losing the traffic wars

Hi friends,

You might think you’re doing okay in the traffic
wars right?

Maybe you know a bit about search engines and
you’ve done a spot of Pay Per Click?

Well I’m sorry to be the one breaking the news
to you but you are losing the traffic wars.

There’s an underground army of super-traffic
warriors that are totally killing it right now
as you rest on your laurels (or in your favorite
cozy chair!) thinking that you have this thing
down.

What am I talking about?

Well, traffic, just like everything else online
changes VERY rapidly. What used to be the
standard traffic methods just six months ago
is no longer the case.

Not only are there HIGHLY profitable web 2.0
tactics for getting targeted traffic to your
website but there are also rich veins of
untapped traffic that a select few marketers
are currently feeding on.

That is, until now..

You see I’ve just seen behind the scenes in something
that is going to radically change your entire
perception of what it means to get traffic
to your website.

You’ve seen the Matrix right? Well, it’s time
to go down that rabbit hole, hold tight this
isn’t going to be pretty.

I’ll be the first to admit - I thought I knew
all there was to know about traffic but when I
started watching the first of the fifty videos
in this unbelievably comprehensive training
program I felt ashamed and surprised.

Here were techniques being laid bare right in
front of my very eyes that I had never, ever
heard of. But not just that - they are so
EASY to copy and put into place that I’ll be
getting lots more traffic to my websites in a
matter of hours by implementing them.

When you add to that the fact that the course
comes with 100,000 ad credits that get you
instant traffic PLUS your very own tailored
Fast-Track To Traffic Action Plan then you
can see why I’m so excited about this!

You know the score - products come out all
the time but this one is the real deal. You
can see it, hear it and feel the quality
and the value of the information contained within
it from the very start.

At the price this guy’s charging you’ll be
rubbing your eyes - seriously now, it’s just
plain stupidly low-priced.

Anyway, have a look for yourself and you’ll
see that this has to be hands-down the most
comprehensive collection of traffic methods
ever revealed in one place and all for a mere
fraction of those $1000 price-tagged homestudy
courses..

Arm yourself with “Michael’s Traffic Videos”
today and get the traffic edge on YOUR
competitors;

Managing wordpress through SQL

Managing wordpress through SQL I have found is quite easy once you understand tables. Say you have one wordpress install configured the way you like categories links etc. You can copy the relevant tables to the new install.

I recently had the fortune of damaging an install and had to do this 1 table at a time as the BACKUP failed. Well that learnt me a great lesson. Now I am combining all my data this way so I can unilaterally copy my installs.

How I did this was I installed a new version of wordpress, I got the full backup and found that all I had to do was match up the sections in the tables to the sections in the database. I then exported each section of the database saved as a notepad file which is a backup now, copied over the user data and the rest of the stuff I wanted and imported it to the relevant table.

After doing this some of the features were a bit disassociated but that fixed easily each time I accessed a category or the like it re activated. The comments I just went back to the database after all the posts and pages were up and then I associated each with the right post, by changing the number as needed.

Difficulty-Level: Medium to Hard. I would not recomend the faint hearted do this full install like I had to this way without the aid of a net or a good backup TEST IT FIRST!!!

Difficulty-Level: Easy. However you can try it now one table at a time easily just make sure you can access phpmyadmin and can read and compare things such as wp_links with the same. So I did not get confused I saved the backups each as the name on the table in each domains backup folder locally. This is due to the fact I was working on 8 domains at the time.

If your stuck drop a line here I will try to help asap. JUST DO NOT delete anything we have the power to help. MAYBE… ;-)
